Inversion mempunyai cerita tentang ras manusia di masa depan yang telah dijajah oleh musuh yang dikenal dengan nama Lutadore. Dalam penjajahannya, Lutadore membawa alat yang bisa memanipulasi gravitasi. Efek alat tersebut semakin dipengaruhi oleh adanya keretakan pada gaya fisikal fundamental yang membuat beberapa bagian kota tidak mempunyai gravitasi.
